1. My husband and I both
attended New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico, which is where the
fictional stadium in Engineered for Murder is under construction. NMSU is well
known for its engineering schools. This is Jett Hall, one of the older engineering
buildings.
2. This is Hadley Hall, the administration building, in
typical southwestern architecture. An interview about Engineered for Murder was
once filmed here.

3. Tory Travers lives in Mesilla, which is an
old Spanish settlement on the outskirts of Las Cruces. It was the site of both the signing
of the Gadsden Purchase and the trial of Billy the Kid. This is the Mesilla Plaza. 4.
The Catholic graveyard in Mesilla is referenced in Engineered for Murder. This is a
portion of that graveyard. |

5. This is the real Palacio Bar, a far cry
from the one that existed when I lived in Mesilla, and a much nicer facility than the one
referenced in Engineered for Murder. I want to thank the owners for having the
sense of humor to let me use the name of their establishment. If you're ever in the area,
stop in and tell Velia Chavez and her husband hello for me. 6. Another view of the
Mesilla Plaza, with St. Albino's at the end .

7. This is St. Albino's, the Catholic Church
which stands on one end of the Plaza. 8. Alvarez began driving a bronze Corvette long
before I realized that bronze Corvettes were relatively rare. Luckily, Bill Herron,
husband of Sandie Herron, former owner of A Novel Idea, is something of an expert on Corvettes.
He supplied me with this picture of a 1968 bronze Corvette, lovingly restored, which just
might have been within Alvarez's budget. Thanks, Bill!

Thanks for pictures 9 & 10 go to Robert
Reid, an engineer for Energizer (the alkaline battery company), who often travels to their
facilities in Juarez, Mexico. 9 and 10. The shrine Christ
by Urbici Soler, atop Mount Cristo Rey, mentioned in Engineered for Murder. This
shrine was a favorite of David Alvarez's grandmother.
